In 2004 I formed Tricord Investment Advisors as a fee-only independent Registered Investment Advisory firm built around ancient wisdom that declares:
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work…
A cord of three strands…is not easily broken”
I’m Larry McDonald, president and Investment Strategist for Tricord, and I believe that these timeless words from antiquity hold true as much today as ages past, because together is always better. It’s all about helping my clients invest well and live well, so they can sleep well, and enjoy the fruits of their diligence and generously apply it to all areas of their life.
I’ve had a great journey and been truly blessed. I’ve been married to my wife, Vicki, for thirty-eight years, have four children and five grandchildren whom I adore. I’m passionate about my faith-based relational pursuits, all things associated with the lake and hiking, Habitat for Humanity, and ice hockey(Go Wings!).
The grey hair has been hard-won as I spent ten years prior to establishing Tricord as a Registered Representative for various broker-dealers. In that time I managed IRA, 401(k), SIMPLE IRA, education, variable annuity, defined benefit and non-qualified investment portfolios for over one-hundred clients. I have an architectural engineering degree from Southern Technical Institute, decades of small business experience, and am also currently the owner of L-J Financial Associates, a second-generation insurance agency.
Using both my analytical background and practical portfolio management experience over the last 22 years as the catalyst, I’ve developed a pretty unique perspective as I’ve navigated through multiple market conditions. Consequently, I’m more committed than ever to a strategic approach to investing and planning that uses a simple, common sense method that is adaptive to the financial markets. I’ve fine-tuned my strategy over the years as needed, and have always focused on the wisdom of a return of my client’s money as well as a return on it.
I’ll also challenge you to think more deeply about the delicate balance in life between our money and our meaning. Sort of a modern day Solomonesque view of life that is anything but meaningless and ripe with possibilities. Lots of fun sprinkled with tongue-in-cheek observations on our divine but distinctly human condition!
So, it would be my privilege to see if why I do what I do and how it’s done resonates with you. Let’s discuss the possibilities of how, together, we can expand the expectation you have for the life you lead, the impact you have, and the legacy you will leave.
